Goblet – Hex. Foot

Item Number:  02
Approximate Size:  6⅞″ H – 10 oz.
Production Dates:  1915-1982

Presented here is the 10 oz. Fostoria American Goblet, which has a hexagonal foot. These items are quite substantial and are approximately 6⅞″ tall.  These goblets have a long stem, which adds to their stature and beauty. Though introduced over 100 years ago – they still look timeless today.  They are a classic, indeed.

The Goblet and the Wine both have a hexagonal foot.  Their design is very similar to each other, except for their size.  The Goblet is the bigger of the two, and has a holding capacity of approximately 9-10 ounces.

Fostoria American Goblet Storage BoxesTo help prevent damage and to allow for easy identification of my goblets, I prefer to use storage boxes.  Full Disclosure: I am an Amazon Associate; thus, I earn from qualifying purchases. The Homyfort storage boxes with dividers have worked very well for me.

A variety of storage boxes from different suppliers are available online; however, I like having the transparent window panel that allows me to see the contents instantly.  The side handles are reinforced and can hold the hefty weight of the glass.  When not in use, you can fold the box flat in order to save space!

The attractive boxes help keep my pantry very organized, and can do the same for you. ♥

Footed Tumbler – 5 oz.

Item Number:  88
Approximate Size:  4¾″ H; 5 oz.
Production Dates:  1934-1982

Fostoria | American | Pair of Footed TumblersMany people classify this Fostoria American Footed Tumbler as a Goblet; however, that is not accurate. Fostoria made both Goblets and Tumblers, in addition to a variety of other stemware.  While this Tumbler’s overall design is very similar to a Goblet, the difference can be found in the actual stem. This Footed Tumbler features a much shorter stem.

One of the things I like best about the clear crystal pieces is their versatility. For example, this 5 oz. Footed Tumbler will look great on any table setting – no matter the color or design.  This piece can be used to serve fruit juices, tea, soft drinks, and other chilled beverages.

The Footed Tumbler holds approximately 5 ounces and is about 4¾″ tall.  It was an extremely popular item in the Fostoria American line, and was produced from 1934-1982.

Salad Bowl

Item Number:  211-SB
Diameter:  10″
Production Dates:  Estimated 1940’s-1985 for this “footed” version

Featured in this post is the last official version of the American Salad Bowl.  It was produced from the 8″ Deep Nappy (522), flaring out the sides to give it a more conical shape.  Even though this piece was available in the 3 Pc. Salad Set, it was also available as a separate purchase.

This Salad Bowl was also available in a Ruby color.  The American 2056 line also offered a Ruby 14″ Torte Plate, which one could pair with the Ruby Salad Bowl.  Even though the Ruby pieces were never offered as an official salad set within the line, they could easily be used and paired in the same fashion as the crystal pieces.  With the addition of wood utensils, the hostess could then enjoy a beautiful and colorful way to serve salad.

Oblong Butter & Cover

Item Number:  300
Height:
2⅛”
Production Dates:  1940-1983

The Oblong Butter and Cover has an approximate height of 2⅛”, a length of 7½” and a width of 3¼”.  All pieces can vary slightly in size, as each piece was handmade.  It was one of the few pieces in the American line that was still being produced in 1983.  The butter dish comes in two pieces, with a bottom and a cover (or lid.)  It is important to note that Fostoria did produce another butter server in their American line – the Round Butter and Cover.

The Oblong Butter can be used in a variety of ways, other than for just serving butter.  If the lid is inverted (turned upside down) it can become a beautiful storage or flower box.  In fact, Fostoria Glass Company officially called the lid a “Flower Box”, and it was featured in their catalogs as such.  The inverted lid also acts as a beautiful table piece to serve individual sugar or tea packets, allowing guests to retrieve them in an orderly fashion.

3-Toed Bowl 10″

Item Number:  222
Approximate Size:  10½
D – 3½H
Production Dates:  1937-1985

The 3-Toed Bowl, and its different configurations, can be somewhat confusing.  Over the years, it was made in three variations:  unfooted, without lugs – unfooted, with lugs – and footed, with lugs.  Many people today call all 3-Toed Bowls footed, which is incorrect.  All the bowls will have toes; however, only one variation will have a foot.  I have received so many requests for information on this subject that I wrote a brief report on it, titled “What’s the Difference between Footed and Unfooted 3-Toed Bowls?”  It is located in the Premium Section of this website, and should prove to be very helpful for those that might need assistance in determining what variation of the 3-Toed Bowl they own.
