Item Number: 709
Approximate Size: 4½″ H; 12 oz.
Production Dates: 1933-1943 Beer Mug; 1974-1982 Tankard
The Beer Mug (709) was first introduced in 1933, being produced for about ten years. It was then taken out of production. Later (in 1974), it was re-introduced as a “Tankard”. Therefore, this piece is known by two names – a Beer Mug or a Tankard. The Beer Mug is the oldest description; the Tankard is the newest.
The bottom of the original Beer Mug (709) was void of any design. When this piece was reintroduced in 1974 as a Tankard, the mould was reworked. While the basic shape, size and holding capacity of the Tankard did not change, the bottom design was modified from being clear glass to a rayed design. Even though the Beer Mug was produced longer than the Tankard, the original Beer Mug with the clear bottom is harder to find.
The Tankards were primarily produced in crystal; however, they can occasionally be found in a special production color of Brown (BR). These non-cataloged items are not plentiful. The Ruby Tankards (709.RU) are rare and extremely hard to find.

This is the 12 oz. Fostoria American Footed Ice Tea. It is a substantial piece of glass, with flared sides. It has a height of approximately 5¾ inches. The Footed Ice Tea was a popular piece in the Fostoria American line, being produced for an estimated fifty years.
There were a total of three different styles of non-handled “Ice Teas” produced over the years. Each one has the same holding capacity – about 12 ounces. They are the Footed Ice Tea, the Flared Ice Tea, and the Regular Ice Tea.
No matter your design preference, one (or all) of the American Ice Teas should serve your needs beautifully. There is even an older handled version, which was called the Footed Handled Ice Tea (AKA Lemonade). Your choices for serving Ice Tea are endless.

Item Number: 65
Height: 5¼″
Production Dates: 1915-1982
There are a variety of “Ice Tea” glasses in the Fostoria American pattern. Some of the glasses are footed and/or flared. Most versions of the Ice Tea glasses hold approximately 12 oz., so the real differences between them can be found in their design and shape. The Ice Tea – Flared – is very similar to the Flared Table Tumbler; however, the Ice Tea glass is larger in size.
The 12 oz. Ice Tea – Flared – has a height of approximately 5¼ – 5½ inches. It has flared sides and does not have a foot. This particular Ice Tea was one of the first pieces to be introduced into the American pattern in 1915 and was produced continuously throughout 1982.
When the Flared Ice Tea is paired with the vintage Ice Tea Plate, it is a beautiful combination. When you want to make a gracious impression while serving tea (or with any other beverage), the Flared Ice Tea will not disappoint. Simply put, it is a beautiful piece of glass.

Approximate Size: 5½″ H – 9 oz.
Production Dates: 1932-1982
This is the Fostoria American Low Goblet. It is approximately 5½″ tall, and holds about 9 ounces. It was a popular item in the American line and was produced for many years. The Low Goblet is one of my most favorite pieces because it is very versatile. It looks beautiful in just about every situation – from a casual lunch to the most elegant dinner party imaginable.
Fostoria made both Goblets and Tumblers, in addition to a wide variety of other drinkware. While some of the designs of the Tumblers can be similar to a Goblet, the difference can be found in the actual stem. Tumblers do not have the longer stems that you see on the Goblets, or they have no stem at all.

Production Dates: 1938-1974
This is the 9 oz. Fostoria American Footed Tumbler. It’s a substantial piece of drinkware, even though it is only about 4⅜″ tall. Very versatile in its usage, it would be a welcome addition to the breakfast, lunch or dinner table. It is the perfect size for serving juice at breakfast, or water at dinner. Introduced into the American line around 1938, it was produced for many years thereafter.

Many times people will call this tumbler a “juice” glass, so you might need to adjust your search criteria accordingly.
