Fostoria American Large Porch Vase

Large Porch Vase

Item Number:  #V-05
Height:  8″-10″
Production Dates:  1915-1927

There were two Porch Vases produced in the American line – a Small Porch Vase and a Large Porch Vase. Both items debuted in the original 1915 catalog, which introduced the American pattern.  The Porch Vases were only produced for a little over a decade.  They are, indeed, rare finds.  If you are lucky enough to find either size, you can expect to pay handsomely for it.

The Large Porch Vase is sometimes referred to as a Swung Vase.  The vases were “swung” in the production process to achieve their look; hence, some people refer to them as Swung Vases.  That being said, the official name from Fostoria Glass Company for this vase was the “Large Porch Vase”.  Other vases in the Fostoria American line were officially called Swung Vases.

The Porch Vases were produced from the mould of an Comport (or Compote) dish.  They were then swung into the desired shape and size.  The Large Porch Vase can vary in height (8-10″); however, most of the time it is approximately 10″ high. The top diameter measurement varies from 7 to 8 inches.
